DIS EP.

SO GOOD. Equal parts beautiful, ethereal and intense.

Year's over and Pitchfork's given us the answer key so let's get our listicle on (I'll update with a song list later I guess?):

Top Albums
12. Drake- If You're Reading This it's Too Late
I should probably put DS2 or Miguel here instead, but I got soooooo much milage out of "running through the 6 with my woes" this year I feel like I owe the guy.

11. Carly Rae Jepsen: E•MO•TION
If there was any justice in this world all the love Tswift got for 1989 would've gone to CRJ.

10. Astronauts, Etc.: Mind Out Wandering
Feels weird putting this on the list over some of the other heavy hitters but it's just so low-key good and fun and gorgeous sounding.

9. Hop Along- Painted Shut
This is the album I thought we were getting when everyone lost their shit over Courtney Barnett.

8. Thundercat: The Beyond/Where Giants Roam
Admittedly this is kind of a legacy award because I've been playing the shit out of Apocalypse this year and buddy has been putting in work with Kenny/Kamasi/FlyLo, but Them Changes is a fucking great breakup song.

7. Kamasi Washington: The Epic
I actually managed to listen to all 3+ hours of The Epic front to back on a car trip so I feel like this is a joint reward for the both of us.

6. Grimes: Art Angels
On artistic merit this should probably be #2 but I've been on a hip-hop bender all year and #4 got me right in the goddamn feels so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

5. Vince Staples: Summertime '06
No doubt in my mind this is a gross underrate and I'll feel bad about it in 3 months.

4. Father John Misty: I Love You, Honeybear
Reflexively you want to hate on FJM for his schtick, but it's crazy how perfectly the album captures that new-love-honeymoon-period feeling.

3. Pusha T: King Push- Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude [The Squeakuel Part II: The Legend of Curly's Gold]
AND THAT DON'T BOUNCE. Someone on twitter recently asked if there's anyone on earth as good at anything as Steph Curry is at basketball, and the only answer I can come up with is Pusha rapping about selling coke.

2. Freddie Gibbs: Shadow of a Doubt
Yeah this was kinda a good year for hip-hop huh?

1. Kendrick Lamar: To Pimp A Butterfly
Because sometimes there are objectively correct choices.

One of the best years in Music that I can remember.

Cant really be bothered ordering them, because I'll probably just end up shuffling them around each day. Slow Show cheated with 12.

TOP TENZ in no order:

FKA Twigs - M3LL155X
Kendrick Lamar - To Pimp a Butterfly
Kamasi Washington - The Epic
Dam-Funk - Invite the Light
Julia Holter - Have You in My Wilderness
Oneohtrix Point Never - Garden of Delete
Iglooghost - Chinese Nu Yr
Hiatus Kaiyote - Choose Your Weapon
Deradoorian - Expanding Flower Planet
Neon Indian - Vegas INTL

YEEZY SEASON APPROACHING

Move over Drake and Meek, Kanye v. laptop-stealing-cousin is already my favourite rap beef of all time

Been listening to Anderson Paak's Malibu album, too. Silicon Valley is my Dios mio. I personally feel that some hooks could have served to be more concise than they were, but other than that, it's fantastic.

Not gonna spoil YEEZY. On a total blackout here.

Drake v. Meek. Drake's pool v. Kanye's pool. Kanye v. laptop stealing cousin. Kanye v. Wiz Kalifa. Kanye v. things in Kanye's butthole. What a time to be alive. *cow emoji**cow emoji**cow emoji*

Can't decide if I actually like Summer Sixteen or not. On the one hand goofy emotional pop Drake is so much more entertaining than faux-angry Drake, but there's some definite "running through the 6 with my woes"-type hometown advantage here.

Been hyping myself up for the Laneway Music Festival here this Sunday. So I've been on a binge listening to most of the artists/bands here: sydney.lanewayfestival.com/line-up/

Gonna have to figure out what we're gonna do with the set time clashes, though. CHVRCHES and Vince Staples are on at the same time. So is Grimes and Thundercat. :c
