Uhhhh... so you got a link to where I can play Yoshi's Island?

EDIT: Any drawbacks to the GBA port?

Can I suggest a game for a game club, or do I first have to participate in one?

Lets be realistic though. Nobody here is going to want to play a game I suggest.

As long as you don't suggest some obscure early access military sim with 14 different stance buttons, you should be okay.

I'm not against playing a Wasdie game, it's just these picks go easier when

A: You just don't pick a long ass game (ideally people also want time to play stuff that they are more into, so it benefits when the game is like 20 hours or shorter side of things).

B: The game has a conclusive finish.

Just name drop some game picks for August, and we'll do a Wasdie game next month.

My suggestions are, in no particular order:

Metal Slug X - store.steampowered.com/app/312610/METAL_SLUG_X/

Metal Slug X is self explanatory. Great game. I would play my PS1 version I still have rather than the Steam version.

Air Conflicts: Secret Wars - store.steampowered.com/app/95900/Air_Conflicts_Secret_Wars/

Air Conflicts: Secret Wars is a last-gen, "b game" which I've played through once already. It's not the greatest game ever, but it is a fun arcade flying game in WWII with a cheesy story but some fun missions. It was one of those games you know the developers knew wasn't that great and it sold for $40 at launch on the consoles rather than $60. Not enough of those kind of games are made anymore and I found it enjoyable and refreshing

Or a single campaign of your preferred difficulty and faction of Rome Total War - store.steampowered.com/app/4760/Rome_Total_War__Collection/

Of course I have to suggest this. A single campaign on whatever difficulty you would like. Takes under 20 hours to complete. You can do the "short" campaign or just finish when you know you've basically overcome all of the real hard challenges. Generally with a Total War game you know if you're going to win around 200 moves in. I never see a campaign through to its finish since it does get a big boring conquering the last few weak enemies.

Rome is easily the best place in the series to start out with. Very straight forward mechanics, easy to figure out, runs on everybody's machine. It's also got some of the most simple rock, paper, scissors combat in the series which really smooths out the learning curve.

I was thinking of buying Metal Slug games last summer sale but decided not to.
Rome would be cool.

How about Prince of Persia trilogy. I need an excuse to actually play them
